  • The Examination format would include Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format of 100 questions with a 550 scaled score out of the possible 750 for passing a 4 hrs open book exam.

  • The use of scaled scores for reporting purposes also helps you determine your score in relation to the minimum standard of performance for a test. The scaled score of 550 is the minimum standard of performance for all ASQ certification exams.

  • There is no penalty for guessing, and you have a 25 percent chance of choosing the right answer.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt is a lifetime certification and they have no recertification requirements.

    Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt 
  • This certification would enable you to effectively apply unique tools and specialist techniques in order to achieve corporate success and successfully deploy a combination of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive business performance.

  • There are no prerequisites for the Yellow Belt examination

  • The Yellow Belt certification consists of a two day course with an examination at the end.

  • The Examination format would include Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format with approximately 50 questions per paper and 50% as passing marks for a 40 minutes duration Closed-book exam. [ APMG Yellow Belt Certification ]

    Lean Six Sigma Black Belt 
  • The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification & training courses help you understand the Six Sigma philosophies and principles, including the supporting systems and tools. Helps in demonstrating team leadership and understanding all aspects of the DMAIC model in accordance with Six Sigma principles.

  • Education/Experience necessitates two completed projects with signed affidavits, or one completed project with signed affidavit and three years of work experience in one or more areas of the Six Sigma Black Belt Body of Knowledge. You do NOT need to be a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt.

  • The Examination format would include Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format of 150 questions which is a 4 hrs open book exam.

  • The use of scaled scores for reporting purposes also helps you determine your score in relation to the minimum standard of performance for a test. The scaled score of 550 is the minimum standard of performance for all ASQ certification exams.

  • There is no penalty for guessing, and you have a 25 percent chance of choosing the right answer.

  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification is not a lifetime certification and they have to be recertified every 3 years using a recertification journal or for sitting once again for the exam.

     Master Black Belt Certification 
  • The Master Black Belt certification exam has two assessment components and a performance-based assessment that includes situation-specific materials those candidates will be directed to evaluate and respond to.

  • The Examination format would include Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format and essay questions which is a 5 hrs open book exam.

  • ASQ uses procedures that meet the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing, in which raw cut score point is established by Board approval, it is converted to a scaled score, which becomes the minimum score necessary to earn certification in that BOK.

  • Master Black Belt Certification is not a lifetime certification and they have to be recertified every 3 years using a recertification journal or for sitting once again for the exam.

Once you have decided which certification is right for you, you can apply online, or mail or fax your application to ASQ headquarters. Decide which date to take the exam. Note the exam name and number (XXX-XXX).

When do I get my results?

Exam results for an exam with an updated body of knowledge are mailed within four weeks after the exam is taken. ASQ scaled scores range from 200 to 750 and the passing scaled score is 550. If you pass the exam, you will obtain a letter of congratulations from the Certification Board, a wallet card, and a certificate showing your certificate number.

Your name will be circulated via www.asq.org and your local ASQ section will be notified and your name may be published by your section and division as well. Once you are certified as a CSSBB you must participate in the Maintenance of Certification program to keep your certification current. The recertification journal provided with your certificate would give you the complete details.

 

What if you do not pass the exam?

 

 If you do not pass the exam, you will receive a score report that provides an analysis of the exam that will assist you in further studies. The time period between tests depends on a candidate’s individual need for preparation. However, the exam must be re-taken within two years or the candidate will be required to submit a new application and pay full fees.
